Our Winter Protocols 2024/25

Thank you for taking the time to read our Winter Protocols, below, which are updated for 2024/25.

We are committed to keeping our gymnasts and staff safe, and we appreciated your support with this.

Roof Replacement at Hilsea

At our Hilsea site, the roof is due to be replaced and this will cause some issues around the estate. Although we do not think it will directly impact sessions, we are being cautious. We ask you to be careful around the estate as there will be equipment and workmen in the area. We will keep families updated as the work is carried out and if we need to make any adjustments.

Front Door at Hilsea

At our Hilsea site, opening and closing the door means the gym gets cold; therefore, if you are watching a session, please come in with your child to watch at their correct start time. We will no longer be opening the door earlier than finish time as it takes the coach away from their group and leads to increased need for heating the gym. Please do not ring the doorbell unless it's an emergency. We will open the door when sessions are starting and finishing. Thank you for your help in keeping our heating costs down.

Drop Off & Collection at Hilsea

Drop Off: We know it gets crowded and it's now dark before 5pm, so we ask parents to please take their time and be considerate while dropping off. We do not fully start our warm-up until 4.05pm, so it's okay if you see the outside is congested to wait a moment or two around the corner until it’s clearer. We respectfully ask that if your children are ready and you are outside, you drop them off promptly rather than sit outside our door for extended periods to help ease this congestion. Please do not park outside our door; at times, we cannot open our door and we can't see you parked behind it. This is creating unsafe situations for gymnasts. We also ask that you please do not park in front of the neighbouring business door, or in front of any other cars.

Collection: When it's dark, please stay in your cars until we open the door - this will keep you warmer for longer and ease congestion outside the door. On collection, coaches will send children out if they can see an adult. We ask that, wherever possible, parents wait for the children to leave the area before driving off, but if that can't be helped, please ensure that your lights are on and you are driving very, very slowly. We have had near misses already and this can be avoided by everyone being extra careful.

Parent Viewing Reminder at Hilsea

We do have a small area at Hilsea where, if parents choose, they can stay to watch their children, however you must come in at the start of session with your child - as mentioned. opening and closing the door frequently makes the gym very cold and this is not good for the gymnasts. Therefore, unless it's been agreed due to a medical need, once we close the doors following drop-off, we will not reopen them - this will help to keep our gymnasts warm and safe. We thank you in advance. We are aware of the limitations of the space at time and we thank everyone for their consideration so far in making sure our gymnasts are safe.

Gymnasts' Clothing

Please ensure your children are coming to gym with removable layers to ensure their comfort - we suggest shorts with leggings on top, their choice of leotard with a t-shirt on top, and a jumper. As they warm up they can then remove layers as they see fit to keep them comfy.

Medical Needs

If you have listed a medical need on your contact forms, please ensure that you bring whichever medicine you have listed. We have had children with allergies that require medical intervention coming to sessions without epi-pens. This is extremely dangerous. If you have listed allergies or medical needs that require medicine, this medicine must be brought to sessions or else, for the gymnast’s own safety, we may refuse entry.
